History of the Temple |
The land surrounding the temple was owned by an aristocratic family. The head of ‘karanavar’ of the family was a devotee of Lord ‘Sri Padmanabha’. Till many years he had no children bon as in heritance in his family. One day he has a dream that he should build a temple on the bank of the river, Sri Padmanabha as deity. As he was in the dream, be begun to build a temple as per thanthrik rules. From the beginning of the construction of the temple there cam an eleplant as a representative of Lord Vigneswara. The elephant helped to carry stones from a large rock in the village. From that the place hear the rock is known as ‘Kalladicha kuzhi ’. After the completion of the temple building the carving work to make the statue of the Lord started. But the expert workers were not be able to complete the work and the incompleted statues had thrown away in the river. On that day the mirthless ‘karanavar’ saw another dream. It that he was advised to bring an old idol of Lord Vishnu which was worshipped by some saint long ago, in a sealtored temple far away from there. It was also informed that the human being must not touch or carry the idol. So he brought the idol by the elephant which helped in the construction of the temple. The idol had been placed in the sanctum bu the priest of the temple’Anantha Padmanabha’. After the placement of the idol the worship and prayers were done according to temple rules. After this, the family of the ‘Karanavar’ has become enriched with inheritants. |
